The VenueThe International Potato Center (CIP) and the National Agrarian University (UNALM), where this Symposium is going to be held, are located in the La Molina District, 15 km away from Lima Downtown in the eastern part of metropolitan Lima, capital of Peru. CIP is one of the 15 Centers of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), dedicated to research and promotion of sustainable agriculture, to obtain food security in developing countries. Within the CGIAR, CIP is dedicated to potato, sweetpotato and Andean root and tuber crops. The UNALM is a specialized agrarian university dedicated to education, research, technology transfer and development. UNALM is organized in eight Professional Schools plus a Graduate School, covering a wide range of scientific areas in agriculture, animal husbandry, economy and fisheries. This university is mainly dedicated to education and to the development of Peruvian agriculture and fisheries.
The 15th Triennial Symposium of the ISTRC will be held in the auditorium and other facilities of UNALM. During the Symposium, participants will visit CIP and UNALM facilities.
Weather wise, the first week of November is in the middle of spring. In Lima and in the coast of Peru, it never rains, but relative humidity is high ( > 75%). During the day and especially at night it is recommended to wear a light jacket or sweater. The temperature in November is 18º to 22º C.
